Other than scoring, third down efficiency, and first downs per game, 2015 D appears to be doing better than last year's D. However, must take into effect that 2015 stats are thru 4 games and not yet the meat of our schedule, while last year's stats are thru all games.
Head to head this year's defense seems superior to A&M's defense other than third down efficiency (surprising to me), sacks, and TFL. It will be interesting to compare stats at the end of the year. But, then again, the only stats that truly matter are W's and L's.

All I know is Fournette's gonna run through that soft middle of theirs like a knife through butter.

We are tackling better, forcing more turn overs, and getting sacks/pressure better than last season.
That's what matters most to me.
We are also shutting opponents out in the first half, allowing us to mount a lead forcing teams to play catch up in the 2nd half.
It has been a recipe for winning success.

Other than scoring.....
Well, that's pretty important.

I am glad to see you recognize this. so many folks don't. each game is situational and mediocre stats in some games is only reflective of the competition and the way the defensive game plan goes. imo, the stats you quoted do not reflect anything meaningful except that chavis has indeed improved the aggies defense. or rather, their outstanding DE's have improved their D.

Neither team has played anyone of note. Will be interesting how it shakes out at the end of the year.

Well done gathering all the Defensive stats!! Props to you....
I didn't like Chavis at UTK and I didn't like him at LSU.... He is a horrible Defensive coordinator IMO.... The only reason why he had success at LSU was because of the talent we recruited by Wilson and others..... Glad he left
Trying to compare Steele to Chavis is a complete waste of time.... Chavis will sink TEX AM eventually. Just matter of time....
