It's a game of inches, guy.
Safeties are worse you lose possession, they get 2 points.
The rule that the Ref didn't call against Seattle makes it a bit more fair if they call it right

That missed call is a non-issue if the defense was required to actually gain possession of the ball in order to gain possession. The mere fact that it would even cross a defensive player's mind to knock a fumble out of bounds rather than recover it should be evidence enough that the rule is fricked up.
