If they had a true freshman QB and no Zeke Elliot or Braxton would you still be saying they should be number 1 just cause of last season?

If you wanna list their players as a reason why then sure, but just because last year is pretty dumb

They don't? They've played absolutely like shite, and are undefeated. If they lose they'll drop significantly and should. Until then, watch some football and suck it up.

they haven't lost... yall are being obtuse. if they don't lose it doesn't matter how ugly they win re: Florida State last year

i wanted to see Florida State left out for all their close games last year, but they got it and now that's precedent.

This is where the ridiculous schedule is fair game to discuss

This is where the "SEC is overrated" stuff blows my mind.

It shouldn't. Garbage team like Arkansas, Auburn, Miss State, etc getting ranked "because SEC" is where that comes from. I'd be fine with an SEC team at 1. As long as we're four or higher from the CFP committee I'm don't care where the writers put us.

It's always a good time to listen to people get so fired up about the AP polls.

The concept of the defending Champs having a high ranking isn't a concept that started this year.

With something as subjective as the college football season, it's as a good a reason as any other this early. If they get exposed, they won't be in the playoffs. If they go undefeated, they will.

Discuss away. A weak schedule isn't exclusive to Ohio State.

You're making no sense. And I'm not insinuating that those teams were all that good.

This. And if they do it by barely winning every game, this board will explode.

Simple people get their Jimmies all rustled less than half way into the season, I just figured we'd give them a good outlet to let their cries be heard.

How so? The SEC gets 7+ teams ranked because they're in the SEC. No other reason. Then everyone wants to use that as an indicator of something. Auburn at 6 was a joke, and I think most people who are honest with themselves knew that. Tennessee, Arkansas, Miss State, Missouri, etc are other examples.

I mean I'm not locked in on OSU being #1 but I don't see anyone aside from Ole Miss (who is losing as I type this) who has been extremely convincing thus far

What does this have to do with the way OSU looks?

winning on the road against a Big 10 team regardless of opponent is mighty impressive. It's not easy to do. That was a quality win

OK, fair enough. But then,

I'd be fine with Utah being #1 and Northwestern being top 5

I think (?) his point is that a close win over 4-1 Indiana is looked at negatively, while a close win over say Arkansas is heralded as a tough fought battle between two SEC powerhouses. (just for example)
