Threads like this bring me back to earth. As a father of two young boys I often worry about so much other meaningless stuff. In the end they are the only things of this world that matter to me. Just wow. This is tough.

I've been a father for 21 years, my biggest fear in that time has been losing one of my kids. My wife lost her cousin in a car accident back in April, he was 1 year younger than our oldest son. He and my son were best friends. Seeing what it did to his parents was gut wrenching and I can't imagine what they went through. No parent should ever have to bury their child.

Damn. Someone couldn't handle this thread and downvoted everything.
Sad. But more than the sadness, there's so much love there. That letter is a hug he left behind.

Most heartbreaking thing I've ever read. I cried like a baby when I read this yesterday. My son looks a lot like this little boy. Last night I laid in his bed with him, said our prayers, and held him in my arms until he fell asleep.
Today I've thought about this story on and off, and there's nothing I can think of that makes it any better or less sad. It's just pure desperate, heart-wrenching sadness. And I didn't even know the kid. It just struck a chord. I don't know how to cope with something like this.![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconwah.gif)

This is such a horrible and sad story.
Words cannot express how devastating this would be for any parent.
