I gotta agree with Tut on this. There is absolutely no reason to rush a child onto an adult bike.
I'm working my 8 year old into a 70 cc three speed dirt bike and I won't let him take it out of first. LOL
The truth is, these machines hold their value like diamonds. Buy the right size bike, and if you have to sell it in a year, you lose pretty much nothing. If you have a little man coming up behind him like I do, you get even more use out of it. These bikes are serious machines. Be smart and take it slow with your son.

My dad got me a used 70cc Honda dirt bike when I was about 8. My mom was pissed 
She said first time we have to go to the hospital it was gone. I have several scars that wouldn't be as bad if I had told my parents to take me to get stitches but couldn't risk losing my bike.
