I appreciate your attempt at an unbiased analysis of a theoretical matchup between the two. Probably more unbiased than I could be.
The only problem I have is that you say that they would still put up 35-40 points. Miles gameplan against spread teams in the past would suggest that he would limit Baylor's time of possession significantly by chewing up the clock with up the middle runs and pounding the opponent into submission.
If Baylor were to get 35-40 points it is because they got early turnovers against LSU and converted them to touchdowns putting LSU down early and making them pass. This would be disaster scenario, which the likelihood of happening would be limited, in my belief, by the fact that he would limit the throws to play action and high completion percentage passes.
If Miles gameplan worked successfully, and to his credit it usually does, we would be looking at a 14-28 LSU win, or something like that.

All those runs in the middle would end up in 5 play scoring drives the way Baylor's defense plays.

Ball control and time of possession > spread.

As to whether LSU could stop it or not... maybe.
We have in the past A&M, Ole Miss, Oregon, West Virginia etc.
2 questions now to see if we continue sucess:
Do we have enough Defensive Lineman? Not as much depth as in the past.
Does loss of Chavis mean anything?
I think we still run Mustang defense without him here anyway.
We need to improve on pass rush compared to last year which we already have 9 so far in 3 games.
Last year it was 19 for the whole season.

Oklahoma sold their soul in 2002. They became a finesse passing team. Stoops and company got enamored with offense and passing the football. They did have a good year in 2003, altho the team didnt win any hardware at all.
Look where it has eventually gotten them. They cant win crap even with Texas down and A&M out of the league. Their philosophy change has allowed TCU and Baylor of all places to dominate their league. Leach was even on the move at Tech.
Oklahoma returned to the national championship in 2004 and 2008. They went to BCS bowl games in 2006, 2007, 2010, and 2013 as well. Saying they havent won crap is a little dramatic. They go up and down like a lot of teams that try to stay elite.

They are OKLA "frickin" HOMA. Maybe it was a bit dramatic but so is Oklahoma's fall. I did forget about their 08 team but since then its been pretty slim pickings in Norman even while Texas has been down. Thats the point of the post.
Altho, u did point out some of their accomplishments that I unfairly neglected, it doesnt change the fact that they are just another football program at this point.
People have already forgotten about Oklahoma's prestige, they are just another "score a bunch of points until it matters" team.

can't believe it took 2 pages for someone to say it.
Look, Baylor will score....if they are on the field. They wouldn't be able to slow down LSU (unless bug eye called the game...kidding)
A few stops on a team like Baylor and keep the ball as long as possible and LSU does beat them.

What happened in 2003 to OK lite?

Anyway, they were touting Baylor yesterday (and their spread), and were calling it unstoppable.
Hmm... we don't even know if they'll beat much less cover the spread against Texas Tech this weekend.

If Baylor was in the SEC West they would be Texas A&M with a worse defense. Would put up big #'s but couldn't stop anyone.

If we get D-Line penetration their "high powered spread O" will not work. On the other hand, you can put 9 ppl in the box and try to stop Leonard.....I like our chances. Ppl were saying the same crap about Oregon in 2011, how'd that turn out?

What is this about?

Once read a solid article about spread offenses and why they will ALWAYS be susceptible to a physical team who can control the LOS on offense and defense.
It really goes all the way back to the off-season and the practice field...
Spread teams, by their nature, practice the spread day-in and day-out. What does the defense see all off-season? The spread.
Even once the season gets going, the only time the defense will see anything that's NOT the spread is against their crappy scout team trying imitate a pro-style or other type of offense.
As a result, the defenses of spread teams never get quality "looks" at a power-running or pro-style offense, and get soft. They don't have to fight off fullbacks and tackle physical RBs every day in practice. So when they play a team that can run straight at them, it's foreign to them.
That's why a team that knows what they're doing will run the ball and control the clock. If they have a physical d-line like LSU in 2011, it's even worse for a spread team.

We did pretty well vs. Oregon if I remember correctly...

Baylor's finna get beat by Texas Tech. Were they really touting a team who's wins so far are over SMU, Lamar and Rice? Look, I know UT is 1-3 but they've lost to Notre Dame, Cal and Oklahoma State, and two of those should have been wins. We'll see who's who at the end of the season.
It's funny because I was thinking we are starting to see the downward cycle of the spread. Look at the Pac 12, where power teams like UCLA, USC and Utah are asserting themselves. Look at the success that Stanford has had out there as a pure power team with much less talent than most of the teams they play. Auburn is falling off. Sumlin decided to move to a run/defense focus in the offseason. Alabama has lost their power identity, and is racking up 500+ yards and 37 points in losses. The recent rise of the Big 10 also demonstrates the resurgence of power football, with teams like Michigan State and Ohio State, who play great defense and run the ball.

I'd say present day Baylor is no better than the Oregon team LSU thumped in the Jerry Dome. Heard the very same thing back then - more nonsense from a second rate conference.

This is pretty accurate. They talk about this all the time. They also say Miles said bad things about the state when he left, though I don't remember that nor have I found evidence of it.
