Allowing 23 yards per punt return, obvious,y worst in conference; and nobody has even taken one to the house on us

It's going to happen soon enough. It used to be that you could expect at least one shank a game, but the rest of the punts would be pretty good. Now we're seeing one shank AND 50 yard punts with 2.0 seconds of hang time.

Not as terrible kickoff return stats against us but still near bottom of conference, time to put Gamble out there to kick it through the endzone at least.

I have no idea why LSU gives out scholarships to place kickers. Josh Jasper was the last scholarship kicker to be LSU's primary place kicker. He was signed in '07. Since then LSU has signed several kickers, none of which have had any impact. They've had good success with walk-on's. Why waste the scholarship?

Still, part of me thinks that LSU doesn't want touchbacks. Maybe it's just me, be it seems like the objective on kickoffs is to make the return man field the ball in the corner of the field somewhere inside the 5. Maybe LSU feels they have good enough ST to keep the returner from reaching the 20? Seems like an unnecessary risk to me.

Did anyone watch the 1st extra point of the game? LSU lined up #44 on the left side of the blocking formation and on the snap of the ball had him immediately "pull" all the way to the opposite side to block a would be rusher. Maybe it was a mistake on #44's part, but I don't think I've ever seen that happen. Are they trying to set up a fake later on? Seems like you're playing with fire by making a guy come all the way across the field to block a rusher.

I made a note of that. That play had "hit your own player in the back" written all over it.

Way too dangerous for whatever is going on there... that's a live ball if it shanks off him I'm pretty sure.

Without a doubt the kicker was purposely trying to not kick it out of the end zone against Syracuse. You could tell on the kickoffs when the camera was on him
