It's really very easy.

When we play lesser teams, we can steamroll them with our running game, even with little threat of passing. We all understand that. But we can't assume that strategy will work against every team on our schedule.

When we play better teams on our schedule (and those with a stout defense that can slow down our rushing attack), we won't get 8 ypc, so we'll need a more balanced attack.

It's football 101. I don't know why people get bent out of shape about this.
