He definitely looked out of bounds from the angle they showed during the game.
The photo someone posted above clearly proves the call was bad.
So, I retract my statement about that call. It was bad.

I think I'm much more suspect of the officiating because there was no replays. If their is a hold that negates a 65 yard run, or makes a team start a drive from their 5 vs. 20, is it too much to ask to have a replay?
Apparently it is with ESPN, I'm ready to go back to CBS.

Late hit was a joke.
But officiating in CFB yesterday was brutal across the board. So many horrid calls in sooo many games, its becoming a farce

Hit out of bounds, pocic holding, illegal formation. There's three.
And the helmet penalty should have been offsetting. How did his helmet come off without hands to the face?
So there's 4.

How about the kicker for syracuse throwing a right hook against adams after the fake field goal.

the late hit was bad, the pi in the end zone is arguable considering the ball was no where near that wr and they were both hand fighting.

Spot on. Of course the punter didn't swing at him on purpose, but with the way calls were made in this game that should have been a personal foul on the kicker/punter

Vandy interference call on fumble recover when ole miss punted was probably worst call I've seen
Posted on 9/27/15 at 11:36 am to Jonathan Ikon
None of the missed calls were egregious. Late hit was questionable, as was the holding on Pocic. No different than every other football game played where there are close calls that could go either way, or they flat out miss a couple. It happens. No one is out to get LSU.

Arguable at best. It was a horrible play by Tolliver. If the situation were reversed and it had been LSU on offense, this board would have melted down if they hadn't called it interference.

2006 Auburn is the benchmark for crooked officiating. Those refs were so blatantly one-sided the only logical conclusion is they were on the take. I absolutely believe that.
I'm with ya, buddy. Worst day of watching football - EVER. BTW, thank you for reminding me of that awful day. My blood pressure spiked as soon as I read your post. Now, I'm gonna go punch a wall or something.

are you kidding? the late hit was clearly a horrible horse shite call, the fricking qb was a mother fricking yard in bounds.
All the other penalties were probably correct or at least arguable but the late hit was completely wrong and the sec should apologize for subjecting us to Ritter.
I think Ritter is far too flag happy, IMO the best officials in the game are the ones that we don't know by name. It means they are doing their job and calling things that matter and not littering the field with laundry.
eta: I don't think Ritter has it out for us, I think he is incompetent at his job considering every sec fan knows his name. He just doesn't call a good game at all. I prefer a ref that lets the horses play. My other issue with yesterday was the lopsided calls. If we are getting called for holding in questionable situations then there is absolutely no way the Cuse wasn't holding as well. Their outmanned oline was going up against a bigger faster better dline yet they didn't draw one hold. If the refs want to ref by the letter of the law than at least do it both ways.

You don't have to think that to think that the officiating was poor.
There were two holding calls that I thought were very poor: one on Pocic and the other was on Jeter, I think. Both players had their hands within the frame and the defender turned.
On the first PI, I didn't think the ball was in the air yet when Jefferson hit him. I'd have to see the reply to be sure, but, if so, it's not PI.
The second PI was kinda ticky tack and the ball wasn't really catchable. So borderline call but ok.
The PF on Neal was ridiculous. They should have called offsetting penalties. He had his helmet ripped off.
The late hit call on Debo was addressed above. Terrible call.
And this doesn't get into missed calls on Cuse, but the OP asked about calls on the Tigers.

quote:oh its likely we would have melted down but the ball was thrown at least 5 yards away from the man and Ricky was going to pick it no matter what. Hell the hand fighting was happening and the wr wasn't even trying to work his way back to the ball. In real time this board would have melted it but I think after the dust had settled most people would realize it was arguable at best.

This thread wasn't about the inequity of calls but i would bet a large majority of the issue came from it not being called both ways. I don't expect penalties to be even because of factors like our inability to do simple things like line up right and our aggressive play, but i do expect if we are being called for holding that the same happen when Key is manhandling people.

No biggie, it only cost LSU the west division and a rematch with Florida.

The PI call was an example of a referee with the ability to safely throw a flag when in fact there was no interference. Just a receiver tripping over himself. This is why Ritter and co. do not belong in CFB.
