Yeah that makes a lot of sense

First of all, I was being sarcastic. The common core method is better for teaching you how to understand math. People see that it looks like it's more work on paper when it's designed to teach you better habbits.

If you understand the common core method, you can quickly solve addition and multiplication problems in your head without needing paper or a calculator. On top of that, it's teaching you the actual mechanics versus a memorization method which is why our country is so lacking when it comes to STEM knowledge.
