Would Sean Payton make a good college coach?

It seems like Payton isn't the type of guy to meekly go down with a firing. I feel like he'd want to leave under his own volition and land on his feet next season with another NFL HC gig or (more likely) a college HC gig.
He obviously has a ton of contacts - does anybody think that he'd be interested in the different facets of college ball? The recruiting, campus life, etc. I feel like he'd be a great fit at Texas or Arkansas or USC or some other big football school where he could essentially pull a "Harbaugh" and let his name/prestige do a lot of the talking and recruiting for him.

He would be better in college than NFL imo

If I'm using Curtis Johnson as any kind of indicator...no

He'd be one hell of a recruiter that's for sure

He would be good at slaying sorostitutes til he got fired. I don't think he has the drive to be a good recruiter.

I feel like that's the beauty of being Super Bowl winning Head Coach Sean Payton - he hires an Ed Orgeron or some other great recruiting specialist and lets them do the work. Then he walks into the kid's living room 3 months later, drops his SB ring on the table, shoots the shite for a couple of minutes, and bam kid is signed.
He has already done most of the work by cultivating his "swaggy, ballsy coach bro" personna. I don't agree that it's relevant any longer with the Saints but reputations die slowly and he can still capitalize on it if he doesn't wait for the bitter end here.

Just for the record, I loved Sean Payton. He was the perfect coach for the Saints from 2006 - 2012 and even into 2013.
Something has changed - his cocky bro personality probably just wore a bit thin and stories get told from guys of the Fujita era to guys of the Cam Jordan era and he loses his aura of authority and respect.
I don't begrudge him a ton - I mainly am pissed about the Haslett-esque presnap penalties, disorganized team, blown timeouts and shitty clock management.
Still greatest Saints coach of all time and still a potential HOF coach if he has one more good run somewhere else. If I was the GM of another NFL franchise I'd kill to hire him after he took a year or so off. He'd be my number one prospect.
I mostly hate what he's become here is all.

I think you would make a awesome Pelicans poster

Payton coaching at University of Texas would be very, very interesting.
They can afford him. They have the money for facilities. He probably can unite the fractured alums. There may be an opening there soon. Big XII is an offense minded league. He has connections from when he coached at Dallas.
I know it's cliche, but he doesn't seem to have that fire in his belly anymore. Maybe a change of scenery would do good for him.
Not to mention... QB coach, Austin Westlake grad Drew Brees would probably help recruiting.

It would be a tremendous fit IMO. He'd give them instant swag and I could see him bro'ing it up with Matthew McConnaghey.

Only if he suddenly likes talking to the media and dealing with boosters. Besides BB, Payton seems like one of the coaches who gives the media the absolute least in the league... Don't think he'd like the myopic local media in" insert college town here"

His ego is way too big for a college program. Dude won a Super Bowl, he won't leave the league.

no- character issues would make him a liability

Probably - college coaches can slay poon and mama's poon - might be a good fit.

No. He sucks at NFL and will suck in the NCAA. I know, I know "but he won the super bowl". But what have you done for me lately?
