It's not that he's bad, he's just not consistently good. He's got spurts of great plays, then is very mediocre in between them. At this stage of his career, if he doesn't light it up the rest of the year (which we are all pretty sure he won't) then he probably never will. I would offer him a 1 year contract for not a whole lot higher than league minimum, but that's all the $ would I would offer because even though he isn't "bad", his position still needs to be upgraded! Even if brought back on a 1 year deal, it would be to compete and likely backup, we should still look for a DE in free agency or draft

At this point, he's shown he's nothing more than a situational player. Someone like Tyrunn Walker should have been signed and starting over Hicks.

Hicks is showing why he was a third round pick...maddeningly inconsistent but could be dominant.

He's the weak link on the D-Line imo. He can't get to the qb & his run defense is pretty bad for how big he is. We should seriously look into replacing him after the season. Hell, give Bobby Richardson a shot. He can't be any worse. At least Richardson blows up a play every now and then.

#Saints DE Akiem Hicks said he got benched during the third quarter Sunday, which is why he played only 28 snaps. Wouldn't specify whether it was performance-related. Said he'll know more after meeting with Sean Payton later today.
Apparently he was asked to go back in and refused to do so.
Wonder what that's about?

Saw in a few tweets he was benched yesterday. IDK what this dude's problem is. He should be shredding the middle of o-lines.

A high draft pick player in a contract year that is not capable of producing given his talent being benched in favor of UDFA Rooks...This all sounds bad.

He's the only player on our defense that doesn't have a solo tackle so far. He only has an assist and that's about it.

With our current FO probably never. Kevin Williams seems to be doing decent so far. Honestly, the defense has been better than last season at this juncture. Too bad the offense is shiting the bed.
