Padding LF7's stats for Heisman vs limiting carries to keep him healthy.

Clearly we shouldn't need him the next two weeks. Do you play him sparingly and keep him fresh, or let him bust a couple of 250+ yard games and make him the frontrunner?
I'm just a little nervous having our indispensable man be the running back. Those guys have a tendency to get nicked. We have some very capable backups, including some bona fide studs in their own right. But if LF goes down, the outlook for the rest of the season changes completely.

Beckwith is the man we can't afford to lose

I wouldn't play him past halftime providing we had a comfortable lead. That's just what I would do, but I'm not enamored with the Heisman trophy like a lot of other people are.
Get a big lead, rest Fournette and give the other backs some valuable game time experience.

I really want to see guice get just as many carries these next 2-3 weeks. It will keep fournette fresh and give guice experience

I would guess if everything goes according to plan, LFs next 2 weeks will look something like this:
10-12 carries, 80-110 yards, 1-2 TDs per game, with Williams and Guice getting the majority of carries.
If that happens and he continues to destroy the SEC, it won't hurt his Heisman chances at all.

Stuff the irrelevant Heisman. Rest EVERYBODY once the game is in hand and let the 3rd stringers get some practice. What the hell were we doing having LF dive over the top in the 2nd half?!?

You play for victory. You disregard stats and rest LF when he needs. Simple as that. Anyway, I believe LF is a Heisman finalist if LSU can make the playoff, even if he doesn't have eye popping numbers. JMO.

Win the game easily and keep Buga under 20 carries.
Looks like Syracuse has a good rushing D. Early in the season but the have the 3rd ranked rushing defense in the country. Hopefully we won't have to rush Fournette too hard to get out of New York with the Win.

Heisman would be cool for LSU and recruiting I guess. But keeping his legs fresh is better.

I say give him the playing time he has earned.
I'd give neither "Heisman" nor "Freshness" any more consideration.
If Fournette were simply the #1 RB, we would get X number of touches.
Give him those. He has earned it. That he is GREAT should not keep him from playing time he has earned.
And, I'd not give him MORE just to get stats.

It's clear he's the Heisman frontrunner right now. Give him 15 carries and let him get about 150+.
Harris needs to use this stretch to get as comfortable as he possibly can before heading into that last 4 game stretch.

I think there is a balance between the two that should be struck. It does the program invaluable good to have a Heisman contender. I say they should continue to target 25 touches and then sit him if possible

Given the player position, the conference, the point in the season, the quality of opponent, and that he won the Heisman that year, Mark Ingram's 2009 rushing stat line vs N Texas is noteworthy.
8 carries, 91 yds, 1 TD
