Agreed, but usually in my comparisons I try to illustrate what Louisiana can be, because so many comments are negative the craft beer scene in LA.
I get that. I don't know what your connection is to Louisiana but if get all of your info from this board you would be missing out on the big picture. Lots of great info and knowledgable people but it represents a very small number of what's taken place down here. Especially in New Orleans where craft beer is the trendy thing to do now. But this doesn't translate into every new brewery making super hoppy maven beers so you get a lot the negative comments.

I spent a good bit of my childhood in St. Francisville, and went to LSU. Ever since I had kids, I don't get back to Louisiana, except for an occasional football game. All of my family has moved out of state, although I still have friends in LA.
I don't see much going on in Portland that can't happen in LA. For lack of a better word, the beer density is very high in Portland. You don't have to drive far to find a brewery or a good taproom.
I don't know the landscape down there very well, but if I was opening a brewery, I would open it in LA, before I opened it in OR. There just seems to be a lot of opportunity in LA, the people that step forward and take the chance are going to take advantage of it. Repealing some archaic laws will probably happen at some point, right?
