Any suggestions on how to get TV to your tailgate. We need a cheap alternative to just pick up some kind of football game. Hopefully the Alabama game after we get out of our game. Any suggestions are appreciated

If you have the capability to to stream watch ESPN and hook it to your TV. You can get the required cables to hook a phone up to a tv at best buy.

I could go the route of hooking my laptop to it. Is it easy to get wifi near the buildings. I'm a student and can use the eduroam wifi.

I am not sure about getting the WiFi signal, that's why I think a cell would be your best option. Well up to an hour before kickoff anyway!

A cell?
Also, what's the best power source? We have a generator. Might go get a smaller one. But is there a cheaper route for just powering a TV and a laptop?

There was a thread about this earlier in the week. The general consensus was that the wifi is unreliable on game day and that WatchESPN is too much for a cell phone hotspot. Your best best is to buy a cheap satellite and find someone who has directv or dish and get a box added to their account for the football months.

A tv with a $10 antenna will get all of the major network games in HD.

I can pick up the Ole Miss - Alabama game after our game? I think it's on ESPN.

Buy a long cable and tap into someone else's satellite? We had satellite trouble for McNeese and tapped into neighbors.

I have U-Verse and downloaded their app. Went to Best Buy and bought a $50 A/V adapter and a $10 HDMI cord and hooked it to the TV. Can use Wi-Fi or over cellular and projects in 1080. Looks great. If you just want the major channels, just use a wireless antenna.

No dude. You need cable for ESPN. An antenna will get the major networks, which means ABC, NBC, CBS, and Fox. You said you just wanted any old football game on. Bama ga me will require you to use other technology.

Deep cycle marine battery and an inverter will run the TV for several hours. Probably run you about $100 for the battery and $30-$50 for a good inverter

some people have the big dome that is wireless
if someone near you has it and doesn't mind you connecting, go for it...I'd offer up some food and beer of course

I have satellite and the whole nine yards now, but when we started tailgating about 10 years ago we used....
TV
Car Battery
Inverter
$10 antenna
Was able to get at least 4-5 hours of power at least, never ran out because all it was used for was to watch some of the Jefferson pilot game and the 2:30 cbs game before heading in the stadium.
If you don't want to buy a seperate battery, use your vehicle battery and crank your car up every so often.

I like the idea of the battery. Any particular size battery that works best? Or inverter? I'm new to the concept entirely.

Don't waste your time with Wifi, just buy an HD antenna

This. Plus if you stream a game you will be WAY behind people who are watching it around you via antenna/satelitte.

You'll get longer life with a marine battery, but a regular car battery works fine.
A TV doesn't pull much power, so any size inverter will do. Just make sure it comes with + - clamps.
