Visiting BR & LSU, please help a Tiger fan out

Me and the gf will be flying into New Orleans from DC this Wednesday. We're staying thru Monday, so we can attend my cousin's wedding this Saturday (believe me, Sat wedding in Sept - I know). We arrive early Wed am and plan on taking a rental car to Baton Rouge for that whole day. Its been 25 + years since I first visited LSU, and I don't remember much. We are pretty wide open the whole day and want to see as much as we can. A few questions I am looking for help on are:
Where is a good place for us to eat lunch? Something that may be a staple in BR...(we like all foods. I'm a beer drinker)
Any idea where to park or start the tour of the campus? We don't mind walking a ton. What is a must see? Have to see the stadium, Mike's set up and anything else LSU football related.
Practice is closed to the public correct? Any way to sneak a peak?
TIA
Also, I'd like to go to the Saints game Sunday. If anyone has tickets for sale or knows anyone who does, I'd be interested in purchasing them. Looking for $115 at most to spend.
Thanks!

Texas de Brazil is nice, but expensive. Walk-ons makes an incredible burger called "the hickory". Drew Brees is now part owner of walk-ons.

Drive to The Chimes at the North Gate. Eat and drink there.

Dont go north of government

Yes, The Chimes is great. Lots of craft beer on tap.

Cool, I'll def go by there then. My gf doesn't drink much, so she'll be driving, so I'd like to enjoy myself and have some beers, maybe at a couple different places if possible

Like others said, The Chimes is a Baton Rouge staple, right next to campus, with a great beer selection.

Parking garage attached to the bookstore, across the street from the union. Walking distance from Chimes.

Chimes is always good, definitely a good selection of craft beers as well. Mike Anderson's and Walk On's are also good choices. After walking around the campus in the heat for a while, stop by the dairy store here on campus for some ice cream. The black cherry flavor is SO good.

you realize that we have a day game with Auburn on Saturday, right?....if you come to campus, prepare for a total clusterfrick of traffic and frustration.
if you want some decent Cajun food, I would recommend parrains...it is off campus, so that area is easier to deal with...
if you want to come on campus, about your only option is to park in the levee or the hayfield lots...get there early or they will be full...also pay attention to the direction they will send you after the game if you plan to stay that long....prepare to walk your arse off.
you can see the tiger habitat, but typically he is not out on gamedays...either in his house or in the trailer waiting for the game to start...if you are on campus two hours before kickoff, don't miss the players and the band walking down the hill...they walk down the road between the stadium and the tiger cage...there is also some food trucks and trailers selling food right in that area along with a band playing...
I'll think of some more later...
ETA: I now see that you are coming on Wednesday and not gameday, so ignore all of that. I do still recommend Parrains and also agree that the chimes and Walkons are reasonable choices closer to campus.

Honestly if you park near the old Alex Box lot right next door to the Football ops you'll probably be good in the afternoons leaving it there...its closer.
Or get a visitors pass. Oh and Mike is more awake in the mornings.

Thanks for the info, but I'm coming just for Wednesday. Will be in NO on Saturday

I saw that...actually a much better plan.
just check in with the visitors info place on highland on your way in. last time I was on campus, they let me park in the parking lot right by the tiger cage (there is a shop that sells shirts and stuff there)...that puts you pretty central to all of the atheletic facilities etc.

I doubt you could get within a country mile of football practice, but if you're interested, you could catch some of the Tiger Band practice Wednesday afternoon. (Don't know exactly what time they start, but they should be going strong around 4:00 or so. You can call the band office for details about their schedule.) It's kind of cool to be right on the sideline when they crank up Pre-Game.

The chimes in the north gate of LSU is a staple. Known for having a massive beer selection. Great food. Very Louisiana type place.
Walk Ons is my big other suggestion.

Thanks everyone. Chimes looks to be a definite for a late lunch/beers.
