If by alternate you mean throwback then it is b/c the NFL no longer allows teams to wear an alt helmet. It has something to do with concussion concerns. So, unless the throwback helmet is the same color as the current helmet, the team can't wear a throw back uniform.

I mean alternate as gold Saints, black Falcons, red Giants, black Eagles, etc.
