So, OP, did you set that mean principal straight yet?
I wanna hear this too....

Not setting anyone straight nor did I make a big scene. He didn't use that word in a hateful way so I felt that it did not even deserve to be addressed at the time he said it.
She admitted they probably over reacted. It's water under the bridge now as far as I'm concerned.

Because I know how classrooms work and I know exactly what was going through the teachers head and most likely the students head. He was trying to be a billy bad arse and say negro in front of his friends to get a laugh. Then try to act all innocent and ignorant when the teacher politely called him out on it. Some of you need to deal with kids more and understand what a classroom is like.

Exactly. Jesus H. Christ, people.
I don't know why this thread has sucked me in but it has. Outstanding thread marketing, OP!

In Spanish there is no difference. Just tell your son to say he was practicing his Español.

In sixth grade I asked a student teacher if he was gay after some prodding from my friends
Got sent to the office. Swore I had no idea what it meant

I remember when I was around that age, maybe a bit younger, I thought that negro was the "proper" way to refer to a black person .
It was after I read and did a book report on a nonfiction book about the Negro Baseball League. Whoops.

It's a Liberal Racial mine field, classic Marxism in both style and substance. It's set up to deliberately trip kids up, so they can be PUNISHED, ATONE and be REEDUCATED.
Your child is guilty. He's tarnished himself. We must punish him, he must make a statement of guilt and commit to Racial Liberal Fundamentalism.
Enjoy.

In 7th grade I called a 6th grader a lesbian and had to write a 400 word essay on why it's not ok to call girls lesbians

I thought it was pronounced A-rab up until 5th or 6th grade.

Yeah, being taken into the hall and told "Don't do that" is real punitive.
I hope Junior can somehow overcome this. Lucky for him, Pops was right there to immediately fly in and put an end to this abuse.

I know, it was dumb to expect the teacher to just answer the question and move on.
OP's son learned a valuable lesson:
Make enough money to avoid public school.

You'd almost think she was getting smartass questions from 9 year olds on a daily basis.

Your premise is certainly believable as I assume you (and I) were smartasses.
That said, I'm gonna go with what the OP posted and assume his kid was asking a legit question.
