The shock extends about an inch too long.

Thanks Pep.
The 50lbers that were on there gave up about a year afte I bought the thing.
I thought I'd be smart and buy a bit heavier shock.
Looks like iI'll be putting 50s back on unless I can get a clamp to fit.
Either way, I can latch the engine cover w/o the springs, so I'm not in a bind.

Nah, I need a longer clamp.
The install points are 90 degrees from each other meaning that when I put a tie wrap on it I cover one of the monting points.
A bit longer clamp would solve it.
Depot in the morning.

You're more patient than me. I would have smashed it by now.

I'd use zip ties set to the estimated 1" compressed position...put the zip tie in between one end of the shock and the ground...push down on top end and slide the zip tie over the top end...
cheap zip ties will probably just strip out...
the thick ones used for a/c duct work should hold 65#
I have a few laying around you are welcome to em'.
or if you want to bring the shocks to slidell I'll give it a shot...I have to wait around the house tomorrow for my new zero turn to be delivered.

Older now.
I used to get aggravated and tear crap up, but while it still bugs me, I'll come back with a better plan.

Rachet would have been mine. I use em to put small tires back that lost a bead lock on the rim and was deflated.
I've taken scrap piece of wood and drilled a hole with like a 3/4" bit and made enough of an indention to hold the rounded end of the shaft from sliding off and installed the upper then used the wood block and a jack to push the lower in place.
