I just don't think it'll help nearly as much as people think and the construction will lead to worse traffic for years until they're done.

We need a more longterm solution IMO.

Those two statements contradict each other Removing that bottleneck is a long term solution, one that is desperately needed.

I don't think it will remove the bottleneck.

shutting down the washington st exit, building another lane over it and extending it to accommodate I-10 traffic would relieve a lot of the bridge backup that occurs literally every day of the week.

every day except for mondays the 18 wheelers sit in the middle lane of the bridge headed east bound and travel through the choke point of the merge of I-110 and I-10 near the washington st exit. it's insane.

then you factor in the traffic coming from the plants on LA-1... two lanes from LA-1, then the river road, then the service road... all 4 lanes merging onto the 1 lane onramp to the bridge where 1 other lane is merging from port allen INTO 3 more lanes from 18 wheelers and other traffic heading east bound.
