8 times out of 10, all could be avoided if people would follow the rules. That being said, there is a difference between how you treat people on a routine traffic stop and how you treat a habitual defender.
I'm not trying to be a dick or smartass...I have no idea what you're trying to say. shite we see here could be avoided. The OT is flooded with retarded arse scenarios every hour involving nut cases and cops. Those instances aren't what I'm talking about.

Look dammit, cops lie. If it weren't for the odds simply being against me, I'd honest to god say 10/10 police reports are CRIMINALY exaggerated. People just don't understand until they've experienced it.

You're fricking delusional. I'm 38 years old and have only ever had one "bad" run in with a cop and that's because I was 17 and trying to act like a comedian in front of all my friends after a high school football game. Believe me, when he jumped out his car and got in my face yelling "you think you're funny?", my tone changed immediately. Had I have gotten my arse whipped by a cop that would have been my fault and I own that.

No one thinks they're responsible for their own actions anymore. It's always something/someone else's fault. Treat cops with the respect that their given authority deserves and you should never have a problem with a cop. So you catch one in a bad mood? All the more reason to be cordial and polite if approached by a cop.

Catch an attitude, mouth off, don't listen to instructions or any other number of examples of disobedience with a cop and, in my book, you deserve all you receive at the hands of said cop.

P.S. My dad was a NOPD cop and what you say disrespects his memory and all the men and women who risk(ed) their lives on a daily basis in this country, still here or not.

frick you!

There's so much wrong with this statement, it's both comical and sad

I work with police every single day, the vast majority of them are great people but just like any profession, some of them are asshats. But even amongst the asshats I know very few that lie.

And as to your bullshite statistic, I read police reports everyday and very very very few contain outright lies. I can't tell you the number of times that I've read a report and the defense attorney says it's all a lie because his client tells him some sob story, then when we look at a video of the incident it turns out to have happened EXACTLY like the cop wrote it up.

Wanna know the first thing I learned when I started working in criminal law (and I started as a defense attorney even though I'm now a prosecutor)? It's that 98% of the guys are just plain guilty.

So no, cops don't lie all the time. Have I seen cops lie? yes. But not nearly as much as the frickers they're arresting. The problem is that this country hates cops rights now and every time there is a tiny mistake it gets blasted all over the news. So idiots think "oh, 6 cops lied around the country this week, then all cops must be liars..." or "oh this cop killed an unarmed black guy, he must be a racist and all cops are racist." But those things are not the rule, instead they are the exceptions to the rule. They are rare cases. Like I said, I know a lot of cops because of what I do, and I respect the vast majority of them because they do put themselves in dangerous situations everyday. You may not like them, you may not respect them, but you don't fricking disparage them in a thread about a cop who was shot in the back by a coward.

I don't know this officer that was killed. But neither do you. So this isn't the thread to come in and talk about how there's some sort of justification for his death based on your ludicrous theory that all cops lie.

Asshat.

Do you think before you write this? You are saying that 10/10 police reports are exaggerated? I guess since you had a bad experience at one restaurant means that 10/10 restaurants have bad service. I know some cops who are good people and for you to bunch them in with some overzealous Barney Fife is a slap to their face. It is also a slap in the face to the three families who have lost their husbands/fathers over the last month or so.
