But there's a reason for this. Tesla's first roadster was built in 2008... almost 8 years ago. Those batteries are still functioning at 85% capacity which is excellent retention.

To be fair, these things cost 3x more than most cars. And paying to have a combustion engine replaced on a 5+ yr old car is not very expensive - That battery would cost $10k+.
But, I am with you in the sense that Tesla's reliability and quality are underestimated.
