Which mode is closest to an old school offline franchise mod where you just play the CPU and go through seasons and such?
Franchise mode is still there.

I did notice that - does it have to be played online?

Nope, started an offline franchise last night. It's my favorite mode too.

I'm still working on my passing game. Having like 20 different combinations of throws is pretty fricking confusing. Not only do you have to read the defense, you have to make sure you are making the correct throw now. I love it and I hate it all in one lol

starting with qb vision for 2005 every complexity added has been a waste so I stopped keeping track and buying every year
so essentially I'm playing at the skill level of someone who plays like madden 2002. reading coverages, analyzing shite, I can't do any of that with any precision.
so I'm going through the skills mode like I've never played the game a day in my life. Last night I went through run concepts and basic controls and played a game applying it.
next I need to learn how to play basic defense go over the concepts and play a game then the same with the passing.
I replayed the drills a million times because it takes time to get used to it and get familiar with how things interact.

I'm doing exact same thing.

I drafted Matthew Stafford, Dez Bryant and Larry Fitzgerald. No need to have an offensive line when you can just throw it up to them and make an aggressive one handed catch almost every time

Nothing better that chunking it up through traffic in the middle of the end zone and having your big guy go up and get it
This is nice sometimes, but when guys abuse it online and its damn near unstoppable, it becomes a problem.

And that's what will most likely happen

Nick toon is a lot of things
Unstoppable he is not. I've had less than great success with colston on the fade
There was one animation where colston wrestled with a db for the ball and came away with it...goal line fade. fricking sweet

Also I don't play online. I just play franchise and exhibition. Vicarious entertainment

Gotta put extra help over the top, rarely have I seen a big receiver come down with the ball if two guys are on him.
One more small thing I'm loving, the soundtrack.
I was so damn sick of hearing trumpets like the last 10 Maddens. Not every song is great, but God it's so much better hearing real music and not the generic NFL music

I'm loving Draft Champions, EA struck gold with that mode. I'd be willing to bet most every major sports title will have something similar to this in the next two years.
Last night I stacked my defense in one draft, think I picked a player at every position besides FS and LOLB. Had RGIII at QB (disaster) and Lacy at RB. I actually thought it was my worst team but I won more games with them than any other team so far. What was fun though is that my team played exactly how I built it, a disgusting defense but a pretty horrible offense.
-First game I won 7-0, very intense the whole game.
-My second game I won 10-7 in OT, my opponent got to my 22 and threw for a TD but I jumped in front and picked it off to win the game.
-My third game I had a bit more offense but still only won 17-7.
-Then I played the last game and got drummed 28-7 by a guy who had a pretty stacked team (Megatron, Lacy, Russel Wilson, AJ Green, Kendall Wright)
Just drafted my next team but won't play with them until later, I got: Cam, AJ Green, Coop, Ryan Matthews, some legend WR, and 4 O linemen... Going to see how a high powered offense goes.

I guess it just depends on if the receiver gets going or not. If you let them get two or three catches it's gonna be a long game.
Also a minor complaint about online ranked....you can't see who you're playing team wise. I could careless about a guys record but I don't want to run the Saints and play the Seahawks and Patriots 24/7.

Draft Champions seems awesome - sort of like Arena mode in Hearthstone where you are drafting a team (ala a deck of cards) and taking into a battle.
Posted on 8/26/15 at 12:21 pm to WilliamTaylor21
You only play one season with drafted team?

I started an offline franchise too with the Saints. I'm playing on All-Pro and I'm 4-2 with losses against Arizona and Dallas. Not a terrible start, both were 3 point losses too. Could be 6-0

I really don't believe they've actually visited or been inside the Superdome since right before Katrina. They still have the red siding up around the edges inside the dome that separate the upper and lower decks.

NFL 2k5 is still the greatest football game IMO
