I have 30 right now and usually get ~25-28. I know I probably won't ever actually get 200, but how much of a difference is getting say 150 going to make? I feel like it's going to be massive

Who is your ISP? I've seen charter all over the Northshore today.

Time Warner Cable, I'm in TX. They are releasing it to select customers, sending a new router and all.
Not sure why I got picked

I just completed the TWC upgrade. The modem they sent is freaking huge (I use my own router). I pay for 30mbps download, and I'm getting nothing short of 80 down and 35 up. Very impressive and at no extra cost. I keep waiting for the "gotcha" but its month to month no contract agreement.
Note I live in Lake Highlands area of dallas.

What are you using it for?
You like won't notice any difference except when downloading large files.

The "gotcha" will be when they implement monthly caps like the wireless data plans have. They get you used to using the massive amount of data and then they start charging you more for it. Prepare your anus.

I have 150 down and can get 100 on my ipad and close to 150 wired on my xbone.
Normal web browsing is not a big deal. Streaming video is nice but probably not that different from what the OP had unless it's something you like to skip ahead in (porn).
Where I really notice it is when I download games and work files. Games run 30-50 GB regularly now.

All of these posts the last week has me wondering about ATT Uverse. I pay like 60$ for friggin' 24 mbps. Could upgrade to 70$ for 48mbps but that's still light years away from what you guys are talking about.
Damn.
Damn.

Until AT&T lays fiber to the home, Uverse will be an inferior product. I knew years ago when they started laying fiber to the node and sticking with that old copper for the last mile that it was a mistake.
I've seen some reports that now that AT&T owns DirecTv, they are looking at a mixed solution of Satellite signal, traditional broadband, and an LTE signal. They are going to avoid pulling fiber for as long as they can.
ETA: I wish St. Tammany Parish would just follow Lafayette's example and start a municipal fiber program.

Internet speed wise, yep.
But if I price out what I get for what I pay at ATT vs. what I'd have to pay at COX (only other option here in NOLA), I'd end up paying damn near 40$ more a month.

ATT is worse than comcast. Their data cap is 250GB!
frick.
all of them.

Does AT&T have a data cap for uverse and if so is it enforced?
AT&T does have data caps for their wireline services. 150GB/month for DSL Internet, 250GB/month for U-verse Internet up to 45Mbps, 1TB/month for U-verse Giga-power.

I don't believe they enforce this though?

whats the point of telling people about if you dont intend to snap the trap closed at a moment's notice?
