And a selfish jack arse for a qb

Herb Tyler. Not a flashy passer, but good enough to get the job done. Also good enough to make defenses respect the pass and not line up 8 or 9 in the box against Faulk/Collins/Meally.
As someone else said, if it weren't for Lou Tepper's terrible defense, the 98 and 99 seasons could have been special.

Jeff Wickersham bitches. Left LSU as the 3rd leading passer in SEC history (at 6900 yards lol)

Josh freakin Booty. All SEC 1st team. Just wish he would have come to LSU out of high school to play baseball and football. I truly believe we would have been in NC contention in 96 had he been the QB. Even though we got killed in the swamp, I think we'd have beaten bama and got the rematch in SEC title game.

i have to go with both Herb Tyler and Rohan Davey. Would have been nice to seen what Butch Duhe would have done had he not died so suddenly.

Herb was the first guy I thought of. Rohan is pretty well respected. He only had one full year to bring it too. One of my favorite performances of his was the 99 Arky game to keep us from going winless in the SEC.

Who underrates Davey? I'd take him over any lsu QB since Bert Jones was here.

Maybe you would, but I suspect most LSU fans wouldn't. I'm not saying people think Davey was bad, but my guess is that if you asked most Tiger fans to rank our top 5 quarterbacks since 1980, a majority of them leave Davey off the list. I think he should be on there.

since LSU didn't play football before nick saban arrived i'd have to say YA Tittle, Bert Jones and Tommy Hodson.

No way JJ or JL should be even mentioned here. Both were mediocre at best if not just bad QBs. If anything JL is overrated by LSU fans.
Herb Tyler is the best answer I've seen so far.

It's not an opinion.
It's fact.
Josh booty made tons clutch throws the year we Alabama at home for first time since Nixon.
