Well yeah, a clean break and a hairline fracture are different. But without the adjectives, the two mean the same thing.

Given that he's only out 4-6 weeks, it's probably a hairline.

Lol. Here's an excerpt from SDS on Mills

quote:

The 6’1, 194-pound Mills is a defensive coordinator’s dream as he adds about as much value as you can get out of one player. With today’s multiplicative defensive schemes, safeties have to be able to “fill the alley,” act as a single-high player in Cover 1 schemes, fill in for “Sam” or “Will” linebackers in sub packages and, most importantly, act as nickel corners when teams go to “10,” “11,” or “oo personnel” groupings.

I can’t emphasize just how versatile Mills is as he can truly be used in an interchangeable safety scheme as he’s a very talented tackler in space. The Tigers are able to provide multi pre-snap looks by aligning Mills close to the line of scrimmage or pushing him back single-high. This is significant as quarterbacks routinely become creatures of habit and can get used to seeing certain personnel in specific spots; changing up looks lends itself to the versatility of the Tigers’ roster.

But yeah no big loss....

He's certainly a very good safety, but it's the deepest position on the roster. We'll be ok.

This hurts from an experience stand point, but we are fricking stacked at safety and DB in general.

Rickey is going to ball out and get great experience going into the back end of the year. We get Auburn at home, which helps as well.

Mills will be back for the meat of the schedule.

WE ARE FINE.

it's a big loss, IMO.

never want to lose a senior leader, and top ranked safety in america.

question is, can jefferson cover as well as mills can? I'm sure he's a big hitter, but have we really seen how well jefferson can or can't cover? not saying he can't, but not sure how anyone can say that he can...

so far in his brief career, he's got 4 PBU's, 2 INT's and a handful of tackles.

Younger guys will take note this could effect his draft status and could have been avoided if he would have declared last season.

Lsu should drop the million or whatever it costs for those oxygen chambers. Remember Terrell Owens healed in like two weeks using one?
