Curved is a preference, not a necessity. I can't justify the hate for them other than to assume those without curved TVs don't enjoy hearing that others feel they may have a superior television, so they bash them.
I personally like the ones I've viewed in person, but I probably won't ever buy one.

Curved TVs seem like they limit the range of good viewing angles, and it seems like the extra money would be better spent on a larger or higher quality flat screen.
Also, the focal plane of most cameras is flat, so a curved TV will introduce distortion, right?
