My fathers side of family tree is filled with a long line of alcoholics. Violent, angry alcoholics at that. My grandfather used to beat the hell out of my dad and his mom.
Dad was the first one in many generations to beat the alcohol bug and overcome it.
Growing up my father frequently told me if he ever smelled alcohol on me he was beating my arse and rent was due on the first of the next month.
I didn't drink a drop till the day I moved out of his house. Even then I hated the stuff.
