In regards to the QBs, the overreaction to one preseason game is real on here today. I'm willing to put out a month ban bet, to anyone willing to accept, that McCown makes the 53. I gave my reasons in the Grayson thread, but here's why I think that:
quote:

1. It's ONE preseason game, let's slow our roll.
2. McCown faced Baltimore's 1st string, while Griffin and Grayson faced 2nd-4th stringers.
3. Payton will elect to keep McCown as the 2nd QB for his veteran presence and experience, if nothing else. While Griffin is entering his 3rd year, he's still pretty raw. It makes more sense to keep a vet back up, and a young project, rather than keeping two young projects as your backups.

I'm not saying it's impossible that Griffin makes it over McCown, but he would have to blow him away the rest of camp/preseason.

I think McCown will make it and Griffin will be the odd man out. It's a shame, but that's the way it goes. McCown does nothing to help the organization going forward.

I'd imagine that we'll see Griffin get the snaps ahead of McCown in the next game to compare against McCown's last night......That's where the real battle is, McCown vs Griffin for the #2 spot because Grayson isn't waived because he'd get claimed off waivers before making it to the practice squad........And as far as TS mention of a trade, neither McCown nor Griffin have any trade value

McCown missed some wide open receivers. Hitting a wide open receiver has nothing to do with what string defense is in. You have to make those throws. His decision making also looked slow compared to Griffin and Grayson.
