If you are saying consolidate conferences, then I am not sure what to tell you because you will in fact inherit some subpar teams which goes against the highly ranked opponents piece

Rivarly week is pretty much the largest week of the year in the regular season for many reasons and if you made that week into a ton of A&M vs Syracuse etc. it would matter a ton to the entire football world.

Man i am not sure what to tell you. I am not trying to sound like a smartass, but I feel bad for people that don't have a great rivalry to enjoy. Rivalries are exactly what make sports a great thing. Winning a NC was an amazing experience, but as I know, my team can suck a year or two later and in those duldrums, you have that hated rival coming into town who you can get excited about because you never know what may happen because its a rivalry.
ETA: do you not enjoy the rivalry with the Giants?
