Launched Steam last night and played it for the first time in several months. Didn't play the Game of Thrones mod. I played just the regular games with a few expansions. I'm a lowly duke in Scotland but I've been screwing so many people behind closed doors (politically and physically) and it's just so much fun. I'm in good with the King of Scotland and the King of England so anytime I have a plot discovered or one of my rivals has declared war on me, I have those two backing me up and he can't do anything.

If you are into games like Civilization but want a far deeper political experience, this is for you. Just an example for what you can do. I had a rival that tried to assassinate me. So instead of assassinating him, I seduced his wife and knocked her up. That's the kind of stuff you can do in this game

Finally, someone else who plays. No telling how many hours (well, Steam would tell me, but it's embarrassing) I've sunk into CK2 and EUIV.

ETA: The GOT mod is fun but is far too stable for long games.

If any of y'all need pointers or advice, I'm your man. Been playing this shite for 3+ years and have pretty much mastered it. Last playthrough, I successfully made Israel as a tiny Jewish Ethiopian duke. shite be hard.

Fantastic game. Been crushing the GOT mod for over a year now.

I initially got interested in this game, as it was described (with the mod, of course) as the best Game of Thrones game out there. I've never played a Paradox title, except Diplomacy (I was a fan of the board game), although I was tempted with EU and Hearts of Iron - at times.

I guess I was always turned off by the "real time" aspect of it - but I think it is more "simultaneous execution" than true RTS, unless I'm mistaken.

May have to give it a second look.

Paradox strategy games are deceptively sneaky. I was doing a Hearts of Iron 2 game recently (I just can't get into HOI 3) as Australia and I thought I was the bull of the woods for such a small country.

And then Japan pounced on me moving my small army via transports with a godawful stack of woe and wiped out four years of building in a heartbeat.

You can't just BS your way through those games and that makes it so much more entertaining.

So I decided to play the actual CK2 game instead of the GoT mod. But every time I do the initial unpause, the game crashes

Anyone dealt with this?
