re: The real issue with Miles and QB position

“People don’t realize I dealt with a high ankle sprain that lingered throughout the season,” Harris said. “I’m now 100 percent healthy after rehabbing the right way"
“Last year, I would be the first one to tell you I didn’t know the ins and outs of things I needed to know,” Harris admitted. “Now going into my second spring, I’m so much more comfortable. I’m not having anybody like the right tackle (Jerald Hawkins in the Auburn game) tell me I’ve called the wrong play or this and that. I’m more comfortable"
So, he had an injury that wasn't fully rehabbed until 2015 and he didn't know the plays. Can we stop with the there was no good reason for Les limiting Harris playing time after Auburn.

The legitimate complaint about Miles for last year was not that he chose the wrong QB, but that Jennings and Harris were all he had to choose from. Every team knows that players only play for 4 years (or less) and that you are going to have to replace a starter at every position every two or three years at least. It's the job of the coaches to be able to do that without having the bottom totally fall out at the position, especially THAT position. For whatever reason, it seems whenever we lose a good QB (Flynn, Perrilloux, JLJJ2011, Mett), it takes us longer to get another one playing well than it takes other teams.
This right here is truth. It's frustrating. I have decided it must be the system LSU runs, bc OCs come and go yet it always takes a QB 2+ years to be serviceable. Other teams don't have this issue. The worst to me was Mett. 2012 was absolutely wasted. Mett should've gotten meaningful snaps in 2011 and he should've taken the reins seamlessly in 2012. But no, despite being an upperclassman, with experience at UGA, juco, and a year with LSU, the NFL talent STILL required a whole year of pitiful offense to learn the system.
I think the system stinks.

The questionable handling of Quarterbacks doing the Miles era reached a new low with Jarrett Lee. Most of the common LSU fans don't beleive their is truly a fair competition between the quarterbacks as most fans believe Miles has already pick Jennings to be this years starter.

The real issue is......beyond reading this whole fricking thread....is that Miles wants a "dual threat" QB to run a pro style offense. Until the one recognizes the other...we will lose 4 or 5 games.

How would you feel if the staff left Lee in for the whole gotc and LSU was blown out with a very possible 4-5 int? You would prolly be posting about questionable QB handling.

What is clearly apparent is that many LSU fans, myself included, aren't confident that there will be a fair QB battle between AJ and BH. Rather most believe AJ will start no matter what happens. This is not totally unfounded as we saw this played out before between JJ and JL. If Miles starts AJ most fans will still believe BH is the better QB which means Miles credibility is virtually zero. This really needs to be addressed by Miles but I really don't think he cares to do so. The end result is fan morale continues to decline which is not good for the program. I wish Miles would realize this and clearly demonstrate that whoever starts is the best QB.

This has and will continue to be the MILES ERA's overriding ISSUE !!

You love selective statistics don't you? How many sacks did your son take in 2009? His passing stats are padded because he couldn't pull the trigger unless his receiver he was staring down was wide arse open, and only then would he throw the ball. That's bound to improve completion percentage. The rest of the time he got sacked or ducked and ran.
Our offense was extremely painful to watch that season, just as it was in virtually every game your son started. I'm sure you are a big AJ supporter-he is so bad he almost makes some fans wish JJ was back.

I don't know why you people really think Les would sacrifice a job which pays him millions of dollars a year because he "likes" one guy.
Except that isn't really the argument. The argument is why would Les sacrifice a $1 million job because he either can't get a quarterback ready, Can't coach one properly, or can't recruit one and keep him. That in fact is the real question. Why does a multimillion dollar coach leave a giant black hole in the most important position on the field for eight years?

All but 2 of 10 years has seen serviceable play from the quarterback. But continue on with your hyperbole.

You're a fricking idiot. Jefferson in 2009 had the lowest sack percentage of any quarterback in the Les Miles era, sacked on just 5.9% of his dropbacks and scrambled on plays with no greater frequency than Matt Flynn or Ryan Perrilloux did in the years before him.
I swear, this board has deteriorated to the point of posting blatant lies.
Our offense was terrible because our running back corps amassed only 1400 yards on the season, giving putting our offense behind the chains in many instances. By comparison, Jeremy Hill had 1400 yards as an individual in 2013.

That's never a label I've chosen for myself... I choose to see the effect that Ryan Perrilloux and Gary Crowton had on the offense from 2008-10, and the effect that the new NFL collective bargaining agreement had on the team as a whole in 2013-14. Absent these circumstances, Miles would have never posted less than a 10-win season and likely would have at least one additional SEC/NC to his resume.
These two hindrances to success have the utmost attention of Miles and his staff... after losing 18 underclassmen in the previous two drafts, only Jalen Collins, Danielle Hunter, and Kwon Alexander declared this past year. The staff is also recruiting at a level never before seen so that the team is better prepared to compensate for our early successes... at no position more so than quarterback, where we have commitments from Franks and Dinkelmann with Harris already on the roster.
Others choose to see results without context and see a program in decline... and call me positiger, sunshine pumper, and idiot for disagreeing with their assessment of an 8-5 prediction and a program in free-fall.

losing underclassmen
Unique to LSU? If so, why?
Other schools experience attrition. Ohio State won a national championship with 3rd string quarter back.

I looked this up once... going off of memory, LSU had 18 guys leave since it was enacted... the next highest program was something like 8-10. So yes, it is rather unique to LSU.

1. there's plenty of people on this board that aren't really LSU fans and have no clue what the hell they're talking about.
2. there's a lot of revisionist history by the Sabanistas
3. there's people that that get all their LSU info from this board.
