Such voluntary acquiescence is alien to me, perhaps as my view is to you.
I will leave the Constitutional angle alone and just say that at a minimum there are things I own that are nice enough that I don't want some clueless public servant fumbling around with them beside a road.

never offer up more info to the cop than you should legally. unless you are carrying on your person no reason to tell him.
