Anyone else feel like MKX is a bit of a letdown? (Small rant)

I played MK9 ever since it came out up to now and loved it. I'm always the one to practice an MK game before I get into big time competitive play, but with this game there's just something....off.
MK9 to me had the perfect amount of accessibility, content, and great game mechanics to make the game SUPER fun to play. Nothing overly flashy. It was just an amazing MK game. Best in the series and the greatest single fighting game of all time IMHO outside DOA3. I just can't get used to MKX. It almost feels like they put in a massive budget for a game that didn't really need it. They switched ALL the button commands to the right from their original location and it was so unnecessary. They removed fan favorite characters for the sake of the story and then pulled this smoke and mirrors bullshite DLC for the sake of a few extra bucks in their pocket. Their abortion of the PC (which I own) version had my computer running it at 35 fps and almost unplayable (for anyone who owns the PC version of the game, the video card is the problem, not the processor if you have decent hardware).
I just don't see how you can frick up the formula that brought 9 to fame in a sequel of this caliber.
5/10 at max.

I enjoyed it and thought the story was ok. But I already traded it in.

It's terrible. MK9 was pretty much flawless and they put this out

It's tied with Soul Calibur

All the Soul Caliburs were mediocre except 2 to be honest. That's the only that I felt had the best characters and solid mechanics. The face and voice movements before the fights were funny too

Who did they "remove for the sake of the story"?
If anything, for the first time since MK1 in 1992, there is actual continuity in the storyline (SPOILERS FOLLOW)
-Shao Kahn, Motaro, and Shang Tsung are still dead (25 years later)
-Noob Saibot (Bi Han) is still destroyed as a result of Nightwolf throwing him into the soulnado in MK9.
-Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Sindel, Smoke, Kitana, Kabal, Stryker, and Nightwolf are still undead revenants (25 years later)
-The comic series killed off the characters that were complete shite (Hsu Hao, Mavado, Kobra, Kira, Drahmin, Reiko, Skarlet) and elevated one of the most underused characters in the game series (Havik) into a true threat in the comic series. Quan Chi carries Moloch's head as part of his intro.
-There's no mention of other shite characters (Hotaru, Darrius, Ashrah) because they're not needed.
-They added a whole lot of depth to the characters of Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Jax, Sonya, Johnny Cage, Kung Lao, and Kenshi by introducing characters who were either their children, relatives, or pupils (Takeda, Cassie, Jacqui, Kung Jin). Kenshi Takahashi now has a full name.
-The ONLY characters I can see that were removed that might have been "fan favorites" are Cyrax and Sektor. MAYBE Sheeva (who is a shite character), Kintaro (who is a shite character), Baraka (who is killed in Chapter 6), Rain (who will likely be added to the DLC roster), and Frost (who had a cameo in Chapter 9)
-They finally introduced a playable evil character who really wrecks shite over the course of the story (D'Vorah) and is great to play as. Kotal Kahn and Erron Black are decent additions, and Ferrah/Torr is just strange enough to work.
-They set up a sequel by corrupting Raiden at the end (he took all of the corruption Shinnok put into the Jinsei into himself) and setting him up as the big bad for MK11.
For once, the series (starting with 9) made character deaths permanent and the characters they did bring back from the dead had plausible reasons for their return.
The only complaint I might have is that Goro wasn't factored in, but in the comic, he has all four of his arms torn off by Kotal.

Came excited to see some more Luigi death stares...
Started reading and got really confused and realized this was about Mortal Kombat...then I realized that Mario Kart is only in it's 8th version not 10. Oh well, Luigi would whoop all their asses anyway

I love it. Then again I'm a bit of a badass on it

You still haven't shown up to the Cove, Billy Badass.

Nah. Sure haven't. Like I said ... I can't imagine actually bringing a console into a bar to game with a bunch of randos. I can just sit in my man cave and do the same thing. Any good people on here on ps4? Add me and let's kOTH.

As I've said before, you pretty only have to bring a PS4 pad (if that). But hey, you probably don't take losses well anyways.

Haha I throughly enjoy getting my arse kicked on fighters. you have to put in work on this game to be competitive at it

That's the mindset I like to hear. We run tournies once a month at the Cove. If you'd like a beer and see what the weekend warriors are up to we have our August tourney this Sunday, from 5:00pm to 10ish. We'll be playing MKX, Killer Instinct, Ultra Street Fighter 4 and Marvel vs Capcom 3.

God damn. What platform for mkx? I used to street fighter but haven't touched it in about 2 years. I'd like to even watch the other games to be honest

PS4 is the tourney standard for MKX. Its definitely a fun time, playing and traveling gets addictive after a while.

What time does it start tonight ? Thinking about rounding up some casuals and heading there. Excited to see some bad asses

i just can't get into fighting games anymore. i used to love them as a kid and just get so bored with them now. what are they like now, seeing as I haven't played one in about 15 years?

Think about the original mortal kombat, except the fighting combos are akin to the difficulty of fatalities in that game.
