Really strange watching them stalk and kill a sea lion. They really are like a pack of wolves, which is why the natives called them sea wolves. They'll toy around with a 1,500 lb sea lion for a while before killing it. I suppose the idea is to tire it out.

Mother Nature...the wild...Alaska...all of it is just awesome.

Went on an Alaskan cruise two summers ago, did a whale watching tour and it was amazing. A group of humpbacks breeched on a school of fish right next to the boat so close that I got some water spray on me. We had just heard the matriarch call out for them to breech on the boats underwater microphone/speaker. The crew on the boat had never heard it before. Even they were amazed.

Also got a pic of a young whale jumping out of the water. I can't wait to go on another cruise and whale watching tour again one day.

Orcas are the apex predator of the ocean.

I could have swore I saw the captain of that excursion ship throwing marshmallows to that sea lion to lure him to his death...

There are no orca grocery stores or restaurants, Roger. What did you think they ate, krill?

Needs to happen more often. Sure would help the salmon if more of those fat frickers got consumed.

Those orcas better watch out: they lured the sea lion out of a sanctuary. Sea lion lives matter

Bubble net feeding. It's a cooperative feeding scheme in which the whales blow a circle of bubbles to trap a school of herring in a ball, then launch to the surface to eat them. It's amazing.

So true. I always hate to see those frickers lined up at the mouth of the Russian river just waiting for the salmon and steelhead to make their runs.

I'm starting a petition to have that fricking Orca extradited.

I am so triggered right now.
