I have always heard coach PM coaches players differently. Some guys thrive in it, while others don't. Wish Grayson the best of luck. I was really rooting for him because I love his dad as a pitcher.

He's a great coach but i am not a fan of Paul.

ha, and then paul calls him a pussy in his response

Damn, Paul parked the bus on top of the kid

Yeah their summary is:
Byrd- Coach is a dick
Manieri- Byrd's a pussy
Byrd- Coach is a dick
Manieri- Byrd's a pussy

My philosophy is "if it ain't fun, I ain't gonna' do it!" It has served me well for 68 years...lol

So what's wrong with what he said?

It's not just the coach that is expected to compete for national championships.

I've never heard of nor seen a successful coach that at one point wasn't a complete dick to some or all his players.
I'm giving coach the benefit of the doubt on this one.

Being tough on your players behind the scene is one thing but throwing them under the bus in public is chicken shite.

Agreed, and he does it quite often.

I wish more would quit so we could fire Paul

CPM needs to tone down his public rhetoric when speaking about teenage kids. The quotes attributed to him regarding Cody Glenn last year were too much.

Paul won a NC get off his back

This situation is odd.
Maybe he just did a poor job of explaining himself (he is young), but his statement makes him come across as either a prima donna or a pussy.
Maybe Byrd just thinks more highly of himself than his current production level indicates. He wouldn't be the first. But, most kids figure it out pretty quickly though and he was CLEARLY playing behind players that were more productive. And, if we are talking about 2B, it's not like Foster was a great player. So, there was ample evidence and opportunity for him to be humbled. This doesn't add up, IMO.
And, his dad was tough and played forever. I can't imaging that Byrd just can't handle criticism from a coach even if it is over the top and unfair. This also doesn't add up, IMO.
Byrd's statement isn't doing himself any favors though.

...ok, but he quit because of the former, right?

I did not find anything that CPM said that sounded like he was throwing him under the bus at all. I read it as more of his style of play more than anything. My opinion is that he wanted a guaranteed starting spot and CPM could not do it for him so he wants to go play somewhere he has a guarantee. Just my thoughts.
