Or maybe a better comparison would be a faster Fab Johnson with better ball skills.

As 2. Bundesliga returns, Greuther Fuerth has offered a contract extension to American Julian Green, I'm told. Current deal expires June 30. Green (25 next month) is coming off injury, not expected to play much right away, then ramp up time. Converted to an 8, it seems. #usmnt

Why do some players get work permits in England and others don’t? I know they are tough to get regularly.

England has some weird rules about "exceptional talent" for these work permits. For the PL you have to be called up for a certain number of your national team's games in the recent past. I'm not sure of the specifics but that's the gist. So in order for him to get a work permit to play for Norwich he has to be involved with the full national team, which he hasn't yet and there is no guarantee that he will. Big risk all around.
