I don't disagree with anything you wrote. And what you wrote illustrates how gun laws don't work.
No idea when but there will be a tipping point, your right to own firearms privately versus what people see as a "remedy" to mass shootings.

I didn't say that concealed carry is a remedy for mass shootings. It is only a deterrent since they are rare and unpredictable events. You never see mass shooters go anywhere there are potential, legally-armed individuals or uniformed officers. The reason is simple - people don't do dumb shite if they think they'll get shot.
I think concealed carry is a great remedy for a lack of individual security - it's a great way for a person to take responsibility of his/her safety and realize cops will only be there to clean up the mess and write in a book about it. It's a great way to prevent crimes from even starting without firing a shot. It's a great way to protect your loved ones. It's a great way to stack the cards in your favor since drawing a gun is a reflexive action. The criminal chooses when the fight starts - we don't get that luxury. Of course, carrying a gun does not guarantee this but definitely increases your odds of survival in a deadly encounter.
Plus, concealed carry permit holders are the most law abiding group of people in the country, making up a statistical 0 when it comes to crimes committed per year. They could state that one fact alone and make the original article look idiotic.
This entire response isn't directed at you - I just hear the same arguments posed often.

Google "Murder New Orleans" and take a look at the plethora of stories that pop up. When the media starts covering stories like those with the same zeal as they do what happened in Lafayette, give me a call.
Lafayette was a tragedy, no doubt. But so was the 17 year old and 4 year old shot on Boeing St last week. So were plenty on that list. There is a problem with violence in certain parts of the community. When those folks decide to start admitting there is a problem, then things will change.
In the meantime, don't worry about my guns and my lawful use of them, mmmkay?
