I don't understand how it's overrated 
It's basically a whole damn ribeye steak cooked to medium rare with a perfect crust on the outside.
If you want more crust obviously a ribeye cut into a steak and seared will be better. If you prefer more medium rare meat and a little sear, then the prime rib is the perfect way to enjoy it.
I suppose y'all will say that chateu briand is over rated but you love filet mignon or a good porterhouse.
