would be pretty fricking far to drive back if homeboy is drinking though
Uber's alive and well in Atlanta. Could probably get to Decatur from Buckhead for $15 or less I'd imagine. Decatur also has one of the best beer bars in the country, if that's what you're into. Called The Brick Store.
If you want stay around the Buckhead area, King + Duke is a great place for food. There is also a Shake Shack. I'd venture out of Buckhead though if you could. Like a previous post said there are a bunch of bars but they're all pretty much the same thing.

The Buckhead bar scene is fine but it's just very generic. All the Roswell Road area bars are younger, until you get up to Johnny's Hideaway (which is definitely worth doing). The other bars in Buckhead are typically of the striving variety (sorry to keep repeating this, but they're 20-30 somethings trying really hard to impress, and usually failing) or of the ghetto fabulous variety. If you want to see hot women being pursued by wealthy try hard guys, that's why I recommended bar at the St. Regis.
Brookhaven, Decatur, VA Highland, West Midtown areas are all better. Honestly, all of those areas are close or exceed Buckhead in food too. For the most part Buckhead isn't a locals area to hang out anymore unless you're in the post-college phase, which isn't necessarily bad, but worth noting.
King + Duke is great, it'll probably be hot but we drink there later in the evenings sometime, so long as its past prime dinner time (too hard to get a table).

Yeah I'm well aware. I live here. Take uber all the time. Buckhead proper to Wild Heaven just seems like a hell of a trek to me. Who knows though, Uber has some damn good fares during non-peak hours sometimes. I just usually limit myself to a couple beers when I'm out there, and I always find myself in Decatur already in my truck anyways. Great place to go out though. Kimball House and Iberian Pig are both top notch dinner spots.
OP venture over to the west side. Can you hit College Football HOF then mosey up Marietta to 5 Seasons Brewery, Bartaco, Six Feet Under, Ormsby's, JCT Kitchen, new place called Marcel that just opened is a great after dinner bar.
