The quake in 2001 was like a bad movie for me, had to crawl out of a destroyed building. Don't want anything to do with anything bigger than a 7.

Something like this happening out West may give them pause when it comes to helping Louisiana again when the next Katrina happens. Those mofos in California and Seattle sent a ton of aid down here. If people on this board are any indication, we will respond to Seattle's destruction with "good! frick those loons!"

I experienced a 7.9 in 2002. I was surprised how violent it was. Strangest thing, I felt it coming about 15 seconds before anyone else. I felt a sense of imbalance, like a loss of equilibrium. Asked if we were having an earthquake and no one else acknowledged, then all hell broke loose.

That sucks. Washington is an awesome state, would hate to see them devastated by such a huge earthquake.

Averages out to every 500 years, but that's just the average. It can happen a lot sooner. Last one was in 1700.

Right, like we did after 9/11? Oh wait, Louisiana donated a replacement fire truck and provided free food to rescue/cleanup workers for months.

Td.com didn't exist back then.

And he's right, the losers on here frequently say really terrible things about California/New York after disasters or in response to articles like the OP

I don't get it. I don't celebrate the looming destruction of New Orleans or get excited over tornadoes in Alabama, but Southerners seem to get a hard on over our potential demise.
