Have four of my LSU friends staying with me this weekend. Told me they will not be coming up Thursday night and if they do. They won't be going to some Cowbell Yell crap.

But the weekend is setup like this.

Thursday - Cowbell Yell (Pep Rally before first home game)
Friday - Bulldog Bash (concert)
Saturday - LSU vs MSU - 8 p.m.

Cowbell Yell - I'm sure nobody from LSU wants to go to that. Plus, they might be trying to do a Guinness World Record. Most cowbells ringing at one time. (I rather go drink beer)

Bulldog Bash
Since 1999 the student association puts on a concert in the cotton district and this year will be LSU weekend on Friday night.
The artist has not been announced yet.
Usually ranges between 20-30K in attendance.
Last three years has been.
The Black Crowes, Eli Yound Band & The Avett Brothers

Game
Saturday night against LSU at home. I can't think of the last night game against LSU. Should be a good atmosphere for the people who haven't seen Davis Wade since renovations.

Info & history

Anyway be safe. Will post this again close to weekend.

I thought it was a night game in 2011 and 2013

State's 2011 team wasn't anything to write home about, but they actually gave LSU the second toughest regular season game. LSU pretty much slaughtered everyone but Bama and State.

It certainly was, Thursday in 2011. The rest of the OP was fine, but that was just dumb.

That Oregon game was closer than people remember, a couple of timely turnovers opened it up.

Walrus I have to disagree. I understand the point differentials were the same at 13. LSU was up 33-13 fairly quickly in the 3rd Q of the Oregon game and the Ducks realized they couldn't run the ball or throw long or intermediate passes. They went to a short passing game and scored two 4th Q TDs on drives that were 6-8 minutes long. The last TD was on the last play of the game as I recall. The Tigers scored a TD in about a minute between those drives on 3 or 4 plays. Final 40-27.

Against State their D was tenacious and although the Tigers outplayed them a break here or there might have made it very interesting. The 4th Q TD, the only one of the game, salted it away for LSU Final 19-6. State also played Bama toughest that year other than LSU.

Two of those TD's were a direct result of a DeAnthony Thomas fumble that put them up 30-13. It was 16-13 at half and then Thomas fumbled at his own 21 and then on the ensuing kickoff within his own 20. LSU should get some credit for creating those fumbles (the first was caused by Montgomery, the second I believe was entirely a Thomas screw up), but if Thomas doesn't hand them 2 gifts in such a short span, it's a different ballgame.

I remembered that game as a blowout and then watched a replay a couple weeks ago and was struck by just how devastating those two turnovers were. You're definitely entitled to your opinion, but I strongly believe it's a different ballgame if Thomas doesn't fumble deep in his own territory twice in a critical two minute span.

How about last time LSU played in Starkville?

I went to the game in 2013 and the Cotton District for Black Crowes. Very crowded and parking is a b'tch. Scenery was average. Was a little surprised at how early the State crowd took off for home as soon as LSU went up two scores.

I'm planning on going to this game with 4 other LSU buddies.

We're taking an RV from Dallas, so I guess unless I'm able to become part of the "Bulldog club," we'll be parking at the Horse Park. Is that close to anything social? Does Starkville have Uber? Went to fayetteville last year and was very surprised they did.

Anyway, Bulldog Bash sounds fun, I'm sure plenty of MS State sluts to go around, amirite?

What about bar scene? Where should we go?
