Uhhh. Aside from Koufas, I'll take Asik's contract over those listed every single day of the week and I wouldn't have to think twice about it.

Kanter is getting the fricking max baw. frick THAT. He's the worst defensive center in the entire league. GTFO with that shite.

Lopez is also making millions/year more than Asik and while, better offensively, he's much much much weaker defensively and on the boards. And still makes significantly more than Asik. frick THAT.

Chandler is also making about 1-2 million more than Asik. I'd be happy with chandler, but he's also 32 fricking years old and no way in hell would I want him on a 4 year deal with his injury history. frick THAT.

Koufos would be ok. He's slightly worse than asik, and he makes slightly less. IDK how we would have gotten him though without give up assets in a S&T. Giving up assets is not worth Kosta Koufos.

The cap went up about $3 million more than expected. Had we known that at the time, you could have dumped Asik and had about $8.5 in cap space, signed Cunningham with your room exception, and the only thing you possibly give up is Gee and Babbitt. Both were signed for slightly more than the minimum. If that's what it took to get/keep them, you wouldn't have had the exceptions to do it. But that's a hindsight is 20/20 thing, there's no way you could have gone into the moratorium with dumping Asik and acquiring Koufos as your plan. Also Koufos started for Karl in Denver, so with comparable money on the table there's no guarantee he'd have chosen the Pels.

Bismack Biyombo signed for $6M over 2 years in Toronto. I think with better coaching and development than he received in Charlotte, he could have quickly become an Asik replacement. Considerably more athletic, younger, and cheaper. He could have given you 90% of what Asik does at 1/3 the cost with higher long term upside: slightly worse rebounder, but better finisher and shot blocker plus runs the floor much better.
