A few weeks ago someone posted an Italy trip question and got some great responses (and some usual OT responses). I am in the planning stages of a possible trip to Australia to dive with the great whites. Anyone do this? If so, what can one expect price-wise? What else is there to do/see in that area? Thanks in advance!

Sharks are cool but whales actually rule the sea. Just watch out for Kate Upton. Those cages can't always protect you.

No, but it is on my too do list right after swimming with Nile Crocodiles and fighting Floyd Money Mayweather.

Oh, no I never used a cage. Are you scared they'll smell your period blood and attack?

Tequila makes me angry so I don't drink it much anymore.

Also interested in responses, although it looks like most are acting like its a trip to space. I want to do it as well.

On my bucket list.

Some wimpy chick at my office did it in South Africa and I watched her Gopro video and it didn't seem that bad. If she can do it I can do it.

They just floated by the cage and didn't seem interested at all. Then they reel the cage all the way back onto the boat while you're in it.

ETA:

She was calm and cool in the video and she screams if she sees a bug near her. Which is really annoying but a topic for another thread

You can do it off the coast of Baja California. Had a friend do it and had a great time with lots of good photos. Not sure how good of an idea it is for boats to be feeding sharks and associating that with divers...but?

Apparently they go out to this cape or rock formation in South Africa and straight chum nearly everyday for shark research. My coworker went near there I think. But like I said, in her video it seemed as if they didn't even notice she was in the water. It was a big fricking cage though.

That's a long way to go to dive with a GW. Particularly when seeing one is not guaranteed. This is on my list as well but I'm planning to hit South Africa and combine the air jaws experience with cage dives. Good thing about Australia is if you see one, you'll see it reaaallly well. Good clear water.

The sharks can destroy those cages if they want to.
