Keep in mind that you can buy gift cards at most grocery stores. For example, I buy my Amazon gift cards from Kroger and therefore get 6% back on all Amazon purchsaes (gas, airline, and more options)
Finally, if you have a store near you that offers fuel rewards, you can really maximize your return. Kroger offers 2x fuel points on gift cards. So I can buy a $50 shell GC w/ 6% rewards and get $0.10 off /gallon. Comes out to about ~10% caseback for every 1$ on gas
