A couple of years back when I started paying quarterly taxes someone told me to send a certified check.(don't remember who or why they thought that was better) That's fine but it costs $10 per shot from the bank and I have to go through the trouble of going get it. Do you just send a personal check?

Personal check. What is the advantage of a certified check?

Thanks guys. Definitely going to switch over to the personal check.

You sure they didn't tell you to send it via certified mail, not a certified check? We recommend certified Mail.

Personal check, though it's horseshite that I have to pay quarterly. What in the hell is the difference if I have a bigger liability at the end of the year? I'm a big boy and can handle saving and paying on April 15. What a damn racket.

I pay them on the IRS site and transfer from my bank account.

I'd bet that person said they send a personal check by certified mail to establish proof of mailing on the actual due date for their payment. But that still would cost at least $3.60 per payment in postal fees.
Many of my clients pay nowadays using EFTPS.
