I keep my Mk9 9mm SBR with a Tirant9 under my bed for that very reason. I keep Remy 147Gr JHP subs in it for home defense.

You'd be surprised that this is more of a moot point than most think.
Read up about "auditory exclusion." When your body gets a huge dump of adrenaline, you will most likely not even hear the gunshots.
Now the muzzle flash is a different story. In the pitch black I'm sure a suppressor would help eliminate the flash.
