Probably a mistake to call up singleton again...he has only reinforced himself as terrible...hell be nothing more than a throw in for trades now instead of a core piece.

I think santana helped himself a little bit while he was up but he's still raw and young enough that his value will be good in a trade. VV has really helped himself as well by steadily improving in each start. He could be the lynch pin for a deal for a big bat in a scenario where we acquire a non rental bat...I don't see them giving up VV for a rental though...ideally we land cue to or smardjia or kazmir and move VV to the bullpen for the back half of the season and let him air it out at 98 99 mph.

I agree, Singleton has not helped his case for more playing time on the big league roster. But he is still young (23) and has a very team friendly contract -- I think you may be under-valuing those things. I think Luhnow will spin the whole "look, we got burned by letting JD Martinez walk and now he's an all-star. we're not letting big jon walk without significant return. just look at his numbers at AAA."

Do I think Singleton will turn it around? Unfortunately, I've seen nothing to suggest that he will. At least, not until he gets finished smoking up $10million worth of weed.

As for everything else you said -- spot on. VV could be deadly in the bullpen as a 7th inning change of pace guy. Could you imagine a 7th, 8th, 9th rotation of VV, Neshak, and then Gregorson -- talk about keeping the hitters off-balance.
