See I just watch Ballers for what it is - a football version of Entourage. The Rock is very charismatic and carries the entire show. Toss in some nudity and wise cracks and you have the tried and true formula for a popular show.
Something else I haven't seen mentioned is the timing of airing Ballers. We're in the doldrums of summer for the sports year and the NFL season is fast approaching. Ballers is the perfect time killer to whet the football fan's appetite during the doldrums.
