i can't tell if this is a pro LSU outlook thinking we are doing better in recruiting than we are. or a reason to pump up this aspect to bash miles' coaching (which is probably mostly the case).

The significance is not the star rating itself though, but that it represents the guys listed as 5 star are considered ready to contribute immediately. This is a trench war and that's where the separation usually comes in.
Grimes has been working to get a more productive offensive line and build depth, while Oregeron has been brought in to do the same along the defensive line. The best hope is there are guys on the d-line apart from Godchaux and LaCouture that are ready to take it to another level.
